What is estate planning?

Estate planning is a proactive and strategic approach to safeguarding your legacy and ensuring your wishes are respected. By crafting a well-thought-out estate plan, you can have the assurance that your assets will be protected, your healthcare preferences will be honored, and your loved ones will be provided for according to your wishes. Estate planning documents typically include a revocable living trust, pour-over will, durable power of attorney, advance healthcare directive, HIPAA authorization, guardianship documents for minor children, etc. depending on everyone's unique needs.

What is included if you hire me?

The initial meeting is free. I provide all my clients with education so they will understand how estate planning works and what all the documents are for. After the initial meeting, we will have a design meeting where we discuss how you would want all of your assets to be handled. Then, we will have a couple follow-up meetings to review rough drafts and edits. Lastly once all the documents are finalized, we will have the signing/notarization meeting. I will provide you with an estate planning portfolio containing all your documents. The documents typically include a revocable living trust, pour-over will, durable power of attorney, advance healthcare directive, HIPAA authorization, guardianship documents for minor children, etc. I will also provide you with education on funding your trust (retitling your assets so that you will avoid probate).

How much will it cost?

The initial meeting with me is free! We will discuss your overall goals/wishes and what options are available. The flat fee that is quoted will depend on family structure (i.e., single, married, blended family, minor children, etc.), number/amount and complexity of assets (i.e., any businesses, real properties, investments, etc.), and what level of asset protection is desired. On average, the estate planning packages start at a flat fee of $3,000. The cost increases depending on the above-mentioned factors.
